For birthmothers that find themselves facing an unexpected pregnancy, they might find they need support in many ways. At Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services (BCHFS), we recognize the unique needs of young women who might be facing in light of their pregnancy, and in response to those needs, we offer Angels’ Cove as a Maternity and Family Care Services Ministry. Angels’ Cove provides residential care for pregnant women and their children in a comfortable home-like setting.
Expectant mothers entering into Angels’ Cove live in a loving Christian atmosphere where they participate in daily devotions and attend Sunday worship as a family. They are connected to educational services through local schools, colleges, GED services, or vocational training centers. Prenatal care and medical services are provided for the expectant mothers as part of the individual service plan. Each plan is unique to the mother based on their needs.
Our staff helps prepare expectant mothers for parenthood by providing education in child development, appropriate discipline, nutrition, and parent/child bonding. For mothers that already have children, they may be allowed to bring their children with them into care so families can remain together throughout the pregnancy. After-care services are also provided for residents that complete the program.
Some expectant mothers that enter into Angels’ Cove are considering adoption, and our staff is there to support the decision-making process and subsequent adoption plan. Regardless of the decision to parent or adopt, the staff of Angels’ Cove is there to support the expectant mothers through their pregnancy and delivery.
