Baptist Children’s Home Core – Residential Care

Baptist Children’s Home Core – Residential Care

Baptist Children’s Home was created in response to the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic.  It has been the core of the ministry for over 102 years.  The residential care cottages provide a strong model for a healthy family structure.   Children reside in the cottages with Christian married couples serving as house parents.  Our staff view their job as a calling from Christ, so our commitment to the children is unparalleled.  Our care nurtures the whole child – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  We design the treatment and interventions through our relationships with the child. This provides a more meaningful and long-lasting change in the child’s life. We are constantly reviewing new treatment technology, techniques and training to stay current in the field of adolescent residential care.  Children come to the Baptist Children’s home between 12 – 18 years of age, from a variety of home environments.  We believe that children should live in a safe and stable home environment and should be given the opportunity to thrive with loving parents.  We work to strengthen the family unit and build family and community supports with the goal of reunification of the family.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”  Matthew 9:37-38

Jesus is warning us in this passage that an opportunity to meet needs and bring people into His kingdom might be missed because of the shortage of workers.  We are instructed to pray for the Lord to send out laborers.  There is still a need for residential care for children across Illinois.  Our ministry was born out of the pandemic of 1918, and is surviving through the pandemic of 2020-2021, but the “laborers are few.”  Please join us in praying for the “laborers” to serve in the Baptist Children’s Home Residential Care ministry.
